The Province of British Columbia and the Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity & Recreation Council (I·SPARC) recognize the importance of sport, physical activity, recreation, and culture in supporting children and youth, but financial barriers—especially for those in or from government care—can limit participation. The RISE Grant helps reduce these barriers by providing support to all youth under 27 in British Columbia who have been formally placed in care, regardless of ancestry, so they can access sport, physical activity, recreation, and cultural opportunities.
